Q: Why did off-road diesel change?
A: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has adopted a comprehensive national program to reduce emissions from off-road diesel engines by implementing engine and fuel controls.

Q: What is NRLM?
A: NRLM is an off-road, low-sulfur diesel fuel that must meet a 15 parts per million (ppm) sulfur maximum. This is part of the EPA's goal of reducing the sulfur level of fuel for engines and equipment that are used in locomotives, ships, tractors, and other off-road equipment.

Q: Do I have to use NRLM?
A: Yes, if you are using any equipment that is not for on-road use. Any equipment that is used off-road for agricultural, construction or manufacturing use must now be using NRLM. Example: Tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, generators, pumps, etc.

Q: Will using NRLM affect my equipment's performance?
A: Engine and equipment manufacturers expect the NRLM to work fine with existing and new equipment. However, you may want to contact you equipment manufacturer for more information.

Q: What if I put NRLM in my on-road vehicle?
A: If you are caught with NRLM in your on-road vehicles tanks, you will be fined. NRLM is colored red. On-road diesel is colored yellow. Rinker Oil Corporation will not deliver NRLM to any tanks that supply on-road vehicles.

Q: Can I blend kerosene with NRLM?
A: Yes. You can blend dyed or clear kerosene with NRLM.
